On the boundary between the village of Pals and its outskirts, the Mas stands as a picturesque enclave surrounded by open fields and lush landscapes. With the tranquillity of nature as its constant backdrop, the setting embodies a harmonious blend of traditional charm and rural serenity.
The project comprises two main buildings: the main house and the annexe. The first is a traditional Catalan farmhouse, while the second — once used for rice storage and stables — reflects the agricultural history of the site.
These two structures sit on different levels, defining the character and topography of the garden. From the outset, the project is conceived through a landscape perspective, focusing on the dialogue between the existing buildings and the new elements to be introduced. Emphasis is placed on the visual relationships between the various volumes, as well as on their connection with the distant silhouette of the village of Pals.
The new interventions seek to dissolve into the existing architecture, reviving traditional building techniques that subtly resurface through a contemporary lens. The aim is to recover the original spirit of the house while celebrating the craftsmanship and material sensibility of local builders.
At certain moments, specific elements deliberately stand out through form, colour, or detail.
